A note from Matt:

Hi friends:
I want to share my heart with you. First and foremost, I am a worshipper and servant of the King. I am passionate about what I feel God has called me to do with my life. I believe God has given me these songs and I must be responsible with them. I can't just let them sit in my notebook under my bed. I see this website as an amazing tool to help spread hope and love around the world. My prayer is that these songs bring inspiration to many and help people connect with God through intimate worship. It's not about me. It is all for God and His glory. I want to thank you for all of your prayers and support. It means so much to me. Let's passionately worship God together. He deserves everything we can offer.
For His Kingdom, matt

A little history:

Matt McCoy has been involved in the Vineyard church movement his entire life. He began leading worship in his church youth group at age 13.

Matt currently serves as the Worship Leader for the Student Union and Young Adult Ministry at the Vineyard Community Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. He travels with his band leading worship for student / young adult conferences, camps, and other church events around the country. Matt is also a passionate song writer for today’s church. He has a heart for his generation and desires to see them connect with God through worship in an intimate and passionate way.

Most people would describe Matt's worship leading style similar to Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and Tim Hughes.

Since 2003, Matt has been actively involved in leading worship at the main Vineyard Youth Conferences in the midwest, such as SOS (Summer of Service ) in Cincinnati and Cloud 9 in Michigan. In 2007, he recorded a live worship DVD at the Summer of Service Conference, which includes 8 of Matt's original worship songs. The DVD also includes chord and lyrics charts for each of the songs and an exclusive music video.

During his music journey so far, he has shared the stage with national artists such as Sanctus Real, Jeremy Riddle, Robbie Reider, Tim Hughes, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Eisha Woods, Julie Nickell, John Reuben. and more.

Matt is a vibrant singer and songwriter for his generation. Having written many worship songs, including "Revelation Generation", "What If", "It’s Your Kindness", and "One Thing I Ask", Matt continues to express his love for God by writing contemporary worship music for today's church.

Growing up as a pastor's son, he has had many experiences in serving the church. In 1997, his family moved from San Diego to northern Indiana to plant a Vineyard church. From 1998 to 2004, Matt served as the student ministries worship leader for the Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse, IN. He was also the director of the IT department. In early 2004, Matt served at Trinity United Methodist in Elkhart, IN as worship intern. He led and directed the worship for Jr. High and High School, as well as serving in the Sunday worship celebration. During the same time, Matt also served as the Worship Leader for Jr. High and High School at Stoneshill Community Church in Ligonier, IN.

Matt has had the opportunity of playing at events such as See You At The Pole Rallys, Young Life, Soul Survivor, International Worship Conference in Zimbabwe Africa, Walking It Out, Summer of Service, Cloud 9, Afterglo, The Lift Community, FPC Camps and Retreats, Navigators, Campus Crusade and many more! His music has also been featured many times on public radio and online christian music websites.

Currently living in Cincinnati, OH, Matt attends the University of Cincinnati and is studying Electronic Media. He serves as the Worship Director for Student Union and Young Adults at the Vineyard Community Church.

Matt truly has the heart of a worshipper and has the desire to see other leaders grow in their gifts. He loves to see students and young adults connect with God through passionate and intimate worship.

Who we are, Who we are not, Who we are called to be:

We are followers of Christ:
When Jesus said come follow me, that's what the disciples did. It was more than believing. They joined Him on a journey. We believe God has called us to this journey as well... to a lifelong process of being conformed to His image as we follow Him on this mission.

We want to lift up Jesus:
We are not entertainers or performers. We are worshippers. We are messengers, called to tell the world of His great love. We want to lift up the only name worthy of all praise. It is all for His fame and His glory.

We want to be radiant:
We desire to have "face to face" encounters with God. Like Moses on Mt. Sinai, we want our faces to be radiant because we have spoken with the Lord in times of intimate worship. That we would be transparent and people would see the glow and passion within us. We pray for melodies, more rhythms, more words of worship, more songs that the world will sing.

We are regular guys:
For some reason, in a lot of peoples eyes, the stage and spotlight can make others appear to be more than they really are. Though we spend a lot of time on stage, we are no different than any other follower of Christ. We experience the same joys and struggles as everyone else. Thankfully, we are covered every moment by the grace of God. Again, it is for His glory.

"Matt continues to press into what it means to be a follower of Christ in this post modern age. As his music honestly reflects the personal joy and struggles of being a Christ follower I can see his journey mature and bare fruit. I think we’ll see Matt become a major contributor to the worship community in the years to come."

Robbie Reider
Associate Producer,

“First and foremost, Matt McCoy is a worshipper.  He possesses a sincere love for God that expresses itself in all he does, and quite poignantly in his music.  Matt is tremendously gifted in every area needed to lead worship well.  His excellent vocal and instrumental skills are complemented by his strong abilities in leading a worship band.  Matt is very sensitive about the flow of worship and the engagement level of the group he is leading.  Above all the skills, I appreciate the humility with which he leads and conducts himself.
A true servant and a real professional.”

Pete Bryant
Senior Director of Student Ministries

“Matt McCoy is one of my favorite independent artists. He writes beautiful songs and has great stage presence. We were all created to worship and it’s obvious that Matt was made to write beautiful worship songs and lead others closer to God through them. Keep your eyes on this kid.”

Kelly St. James

“Matt and his band joined us at our yearly CampSOS youth summer event to lead worship for the week. We found them to be very professional and flexible, and their willingness to hang and connect with the kids made the nightly worship services that much better. Matt’s a great worship leader and he made sure that he was being sensitive to the needs of the group. Expect great things from him!”

John L’Ecuyer
Worship Pastor
Vineyard Church of Wheeling

“I hear my daughter sing the worship songs that Matt has written and I know they are affecting her in a positive way. He connects to others with his music and they in turn connect with God. Who wouldn’t support that? It makes a heart smile : )”

Mother of a teenage student at Vineyard Community Church.
