Acoustic Guitars part 1
// April 14th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Blog
We started recording acoustic guitars tonight for the new record. We still have more drum tracks to record (about 5 more songs) We’re making progress though and it’s coming along well.
Acoustics used tonight:
Avalon A25
Collings OM2H
Here’s a little video I recorded tonight. Nothing fancy, but it gives you an idea.
On my way home, I stopped at Wendy’s and ordered a crispy chicken and 5 piece nuggets (which seems to have gone up in price by the way). I consumed that within a couple blocks, and then stopped at Taco Bell to satisfy the hunger… Cheesy Double Beef Burrito. I’m not sure why i told you that, but it was delicious.

Old Vineyard Song – “It’s Your Blood”
// April 10th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Blog
One of my very favorite (top 5) old Vineyard worship songs is “It’s Your Blood”, written by Michael Christ. This song was written around the year I was born.
I’ve looked everywhere for an audio file of this song, but can’t find anything. If anyone has it, let me know. The only thing I could find was this kinda cheesy ’sing-a-long’ YouTube video… but Hey – at least you can hear the song…. and maybe sing a long too. So beautiful… and very appropriate for Good Friday today.
I’ve been singing this song all day. Check out the video below.
iPhone Speaker Interference
// April 9th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Blog
Today marks the day of finally eliminating the most annoying sound in my life.
Everyday, while sitting at my desk, my iPhone would cause some crazy interference in my speakers.
Buzz buzz buzz bz bz buz buzzz bzzz bzz buzz bzz buzz bzz zz bz bz buz buzzz bzzz bzz buzz b zz bz bz buz buzzz bzzz bzz
You know what I’m talking about?
This would happen literally all day, until I couldn’t stand it anymore and throw my phone down the hallway. (not really).
But it would cause inner turmoil inside of me.
Well – today, I found a solution. Aluminum foil. I cut a little piece of aluminum foil and and let my iPhone sit on top of it.
No more interference!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I may not ever receive phone calls again, but at least the buzzing is gone.

Conspire Conference
// March 18th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog
UPDATE / Friday 6:30 pm :
Great time with the student band this morning at Conspire Conference. Also fun hanging with Brandon Grissom (http://www.brandongrissom.net) and band. We discovered a new iphone app. “Dog Whistle”. You’ve gotta try it. Let’s you play a tone at different frequencies. Check and see how high you can hear. I scored at 19,750 Hz. I can’t wait to bring it into a meeting with me and see how long it takes for people to notice a high pitch ringing sound.
This week Willow Creek is hosting the Conspire Conference – a conference for children’s ministry pastors and staff. I’ve been able to poke my head into a couple of sessions. Phil Vischer was here (the Veggie Tales guy), as well as Sara Groves. During the morning session, Lakewood Church (Houston, TX) brought their student worship band in to lead worship. It was really cool. Very talented and energetic. Tomorrow morning, one of our students bands and I am leading a song to close out the conference. Hopefully I’ll have some videos or pics to post of that later. It’s started to get a bit warmer here in Chicagoland. Warm, Sunny… there’s nothing like sitting in the park with a book and some bubble tea. I have to run, but I’ll post more soon.
